Vice Mayor for Municipal Property and Construction

Grigorios Leon is the Vice Mayor for Municipal Property and Construction, responsible for the Directorate of Municipal Property and the Directorate of Construction, as described in the internal regulation of the City of Athens.

The above-mentioned competences include mainly the issuance and signing of decisions on: imputation of an amount to an employee, restoration of family graves in the Municipality, appointment of employees for the preparation and signing of reports, imputation of amount to citizens, granting permission to photograph/videotape of grave monuments, and imposing penalties on professionals registered in the Cemeteries registry. In the absence of the Vice Mayor for Municipal Property and Construction, he is substituted by Vice Mayor Vassilios Koromantzos.

The well-known forensic pathologist Grigoris Leon has dealt with the most important crimes in Greece and he often comments on issues regarding his discipline. Coming from Preveza, he grew up at Gyzi and Ampelokipi areas. He graduated from the “Sapienza” University in Rome, holding three master’s degrees and a PhD from the University of Athens. He studied in Greece and Florida (USA) and teaches at the Universities of Athens and Crete. Since 2014, he is elected President of the Hellenic Society of Forensic Medicine and since 2016 he is the Vice Secretary of Scientific Institutions of the New Democracy party. In 2010 he was elected as Councilor of the 7th Municipal Community of the City of Athens.
