Park where you should, not wherever!

Looking for a parking space? Look for PARKinATHENS!

PARKinATHENS is the City of Athens’ Controlled Parking System, in operation since 2006; its aim is to improve vehicle access to the city’s main arteries (commercial triangle, Historic Centre, etc.) and facilitate citizens/visitors in finding parking spaces.

Looking for somewhere to park in the city centre?

PARKinATHENS includes a total of 12 zones within the City of Athens, and 4 main categories of parking spaces for vehicles (visitors, residents, special needs and motorcycles).

The system covers:

– 5177 residents’ parking spaces;

– 3463 visitors’ parking spaces;

– 1604 spaces for motorcycles; and

– 1000 special spaces for persons with disabilities.

The controlled parking system in the centre of Athens includes parking spaces:

  • for permanent residents (vertical signage P70 “P-Residents”, blue marking on the street surface);
  • for visitors (vertical signage P69 “P-Park and Pay”, white marking on the street surface); and
  • parking spaces for special purposes and professional needs (vertical signage P40 “No Parking, except vehicles…”, yellow marking on the street surface).

Controlled parking applies for visitors’ spaces on working days from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; for residents’ spaces and special needs spaces, the controlled parking system applies 24/7 throughout the year, without limitation.

Visitors can pay for their parking space in three ways:

  • Using the myathenspass application and a credit card;
  • By card at all authorized kiosks or stores;
  • By buying a scratch-card.

“Smart applications such as myAthensPass make our lives in Athens much easier. You can simply use your mobile phone to secure a parking space for your vehicle in the city, making life easier for yourself and your fellow citizens.

Just download the myAthensPass app to your phone, fill in the relevant details and select the desired amount, to park in one of the controlled parking spaces in the centre of Athens with zero hassle, in less than a minute.

Moreover, the application will notify you when time is running out, allowing you to renew your payment online. It is details like that, applications like myAthensPass, that make all the difference to our daily lives, making everything simpler”.

For visitors, the maximum duration for parking is 3 hours, and parking fees amount to 50 cents for half an hour, increasing by 50 cents for every half-hour up to € 2.

For 2.5 hours, users have to pay € 4, and € 6 for three hours.

Vehicles with disability badges are free to park in visitors’ spaces without paying a fee, at all hours and days of the week.

Permanent residents may request a special resident’s badge from the City of Athens, which must be attached on a visible part of their car’s wind-shield. Applications can be submitted at the Municipal Police Division-Controlled Parking Department, 14, Agiou Konstantinou street, 1st floor, Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
