10-07-2014: SOCRATES NOW

socrates_now

The timeless play with more than 200,000 devoted fans around the world.  "The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." - Socrates 399 BC
The hit international theatrical production based on Plato's "Apology" returns to the courtyard of the beautiful Athens University History Museum building, beneath the Acropolis, a few steps from where the Ancient Greek philosopher was sentenced to death 2,500 years ago.Don't miss this unique performance discourse by the Emmy award winner actor/scholar Yannis Simonides. Enjoy the rare opportunity to spend an evening with Socrates, one of the most famous figures in human history and to take part in one of the most important and controversial trials of all time.

Consider Socrates' arguments, make your own judgment, and ask your own questions:

• Would Socrates have been executed today?
• Did the Athenians hemlock democracy?
• What do Socrates and a horsefly have in common?

Just back from a sellout 6 week tour of Australia and New Zealand, "Socrates Now" has been offered in more than 350 performances in 17 countries including the USA, Canada, Uruguay, the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Belgium and U.K., in such diverse venues as the Antel Theater in Montevideo, the Harvard Club in NYC, Oxford and Cambridge Universities and the United Nations.

The global travels of "Socrates Now" have shown that in today's world Socratic wisdom remains as meaningful, inspiring and engaging as ever.
