“Athens City Council resolution on city centre”
Having discussed the situation in the greater city centre, Athens City Council ascertains:
That the city’s historic centre and other major areas are suffering desertification, all manner of criminal activity and manifestations of violence, insecurity, lawlessness,
“Excerpts of statements by Athens Mayor Yiorgos Kaminis to radio and TV media”
Criminal activity and incentives aimed at drawing people back to city centre
The problem Athens faces is not solely a policing problem. It is a multi-faceted problem that requires intervention on very many levels and over a significant period of time.
02-06-2010: "City of Athens vindicated in Ambelokipi property case"
The Athens Multi-Member Court of First Instance has vindicated the efforts of Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis' Municipal Administration to protect open spaces in the Ambelokipi area. The court has issued a decision (3297/2010) rejecting a suit filed by aspiring "claimants" who had attempted to privatize municipal land in the Koundouriotika locality based on purported Turkish property titles.
