The Cultural
Organization of the City of Athens and the
artists collaborating with the "Aegean
Summer Art
Academy", present for the 3rd
consecutive year the long established fine arts event titled "The Blue of the Aegean".
The artists
deal with the subject through the personal experiences they have lived in the Aegean's Archipelago which they convey artistically, each
one separately, following their personal style and aesthetics. The historically
charged Aegean with the Cycladic, Minoan and Mycenaean Civilization, The
Athenian Thalassocracy and the triremes, the Byzantine dominance, not only in
the Aegean but the in all the Meditteranean, the "swift" Byzantine Dromons equipped
with liquid fire, the spread of Greek Merchant Shipping from the 18th century
under the treaty of Kioutsouk Kainartzi (1774) until today, in conjuction with
the personal experiences of each artist, creates the premise and the stimulus for
the artistic elaboration on the subject.
In this
exhibition creations made of stone and marble will also be presented by the
sculpture workshop in the context of the symposium, that was organized in Athens and Paros, during
the period 2008-2009. Included are some poetic and musical happenings, where it
becomes evident that the much praised Aegean, has inspired the artists and
inellectuals of the "Aegean
Summer Art
Academy".
