08-03-2010: “Vandals target Homeless Foundation and Social Pharmacy”

Hooded individuals with iron bars caused damage to the
façade of the City of Athens Homeless Foundation's neo-classical
building on the sidelines of protest rallies held last Friday, March 5, also
interrupting the serving of meals to foreign national multi-member families,
which was taking place at the time.




Early this morning, unknown persons also caused major
damage to the infrastructure and interior of the Social Pharmacy and the social
services located in the vicinity of the Varvakios Market. Electronic equipment
was stolen and building facilities extensively vandalised.




The City of Athens
condemns this objectionable conduct and is proceeding with damage restoration,
so that the Municipality can continue to offer its social services on a daily
basis to thousands of our fellow citizens.
