The City of Athens will hold an open discussion on the theme "The Position of Women in Europe: A contemporary perspective", in honour of International Women's Day.

The event is being held under the auspices of the City of Athens Deputy Mayoralty for International Relations, in collaboration with the 1st City District Council and the Panathinaiki Young Women's Organisation. It forms part of the operation of the European Information Centre Europe Direct, a European network aimed an informing and raising the awareness of European citizens on matters which concern them.

The discussion serves as an occasion to convey the need to consistently raise awareness of women's issues and social issues relating to equality as well as promote the position of women.
