10th European Jazz Festival at “Technopolis”: Selection of Greek representative 08/02/2010 - 31/03/2010 The candidate that will represent Greece in the 10th European Jazz Festival in Athens, organized by City of Athens "Technopolis" from May 25 to 29, 2010, will be selected by a four-member committee that consists of: Yiorgos Katsaros (City of Athens Music Ensembles chairman), Yiannis Terezakis (City of Athens Big Band conductor), Yiorgos Haronitis (Jazz & Jazz magazine editor) and Pantazis Tsaras (music producer). Those interested can submit their applications and enclose a CV and a CD or demo of their work from Monday, February 8 to Wednesday, March 31, 2010 to: City of Athens "Technopolis", 100 Pireos St, Post Code 118 54, Athens, marked "To participate in the 10th European Jazz Festival. “A fairytale life”: An exhibition of illustrations by Nikos Vasiliades 17/02/2010 - 27/02/2010 The most colorful exhibition of illustrations in children's books titled "A fairytale life" with work by Nikos Vasiliades. Nikos Vasiliades, is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts, and for the first time presents an exhibition that is entirely his own with fairytale heroes, and chooses an unconventional approach, completely different than the one we are used to by storytellers. Through colors and the art of illustration they become true works of art. Opening: Wednesday 17 February 2010, time 19:00 Photography group exhibition “I feel…” 17/02/2010 - 28/02/2010 The City of Athens Cultural Organization and the Organization for the Intellectual Property of Photographers "Foivos" present the photography group exhibition "I feel...". The exhibition aims in promoting the creative work by the members of the Organization "Foivos". The photographs presented were taken either in the framework of their professional activities such as reports, the depiction of landscapes and fashion or from the creative part of their profession. Opening: Wednesday 17 February 2010, time 20:00 “The Analogy of Origins” painting exhibition by Othonas Tetenes 18/02/2010 - 26/02/2010 A special exhibition with paintings by Othonas Tetenes, titled "The Analogy of Origins", is organized by the City of Athens Cultural Organization. Othon Tetenes (an individual from the Neuropsychiatry Clinic "Panagia e Gregorousa") has been painting for the past 15 years and is self taught. He expresses his artistic pursuits through writing and painting. When he paints he does so in an intellectual manner, creating an environment on paper influenced by psychologic references and quests. Opening: Thursday 18 February 2010, time 19:00 Music performance by Maria Reboutsika and Adreas Symvoulopoulos “Film noir quartet” 23/02/2010 - 20:30 The band Film Noir was created in 2006 by the pianist Adreas Symvoulopoulos and the violinist Maria Reboutsika. They started out by playing and improvising in many music halls, the last two years as a quartet with Thanasis Sofras on the double bass and Giannis Roussos on the drums. Their sound wanders from each member's musical experiences to contemporary music from the international scene (from hasapiko and Hatzidakis, to Piazzola, and from there to K. Jarrett and Brad Mehldau to tradition) and of course their own compositions which can be found in their album. “Belle Reve”: a theatrical performance with renowned one-act works of Tennessee Williams 23/02/2010 - 21:00 The theatrical group "Art" is presenting a one-act anthology play entitled "Belle Reve" that evolves around the life of Tennessee Williams, from February 1 to early March, every Monday and Tuesday. The play is presented with the support of the City of Athens "Technopolis". The controversial figure of the American playwright becomes a source of inspiration for the group "Art", founded in 2009 and consisting of young actors that will come in contact with an audience for the first time to claim a place in modern theatre reality. The group consists of actors: Roberta Vega, Mary Kalfa, Giorgos Kapiniaris, Nelly Bofilou, Ergina Papadaki, Yiannis Piliouras and Yiannis Soulakis.
