The subject of childhood is one that interests, as is well known, all scientific fields which study man (medicine, psychiatry, psychology, social sciences etc.).

It is undoubtedly an attractive subject, mostly for the reason that there is a point of reference in our adult life. We all carry memories, images, pieces from all the interactions of that time, that in the end stigmatize the rest of our lives.

The candidate that will represent Greece in the 10th European Jazz Festival in Athens, organized by City of Athens "Technopolis" from May 25 to 29, 2010, will be selected by a four-member committee that consists of: Yiorgos Katsaros (City of Athens Music Ensembles chairman), Yiannis Terezakis (City of Athens Big Band conductor), Yiorgos Haronitis (Jazz & Jazz magazine editor) and Pantazis Tsaras (music producer).

Those interested can submit their applications and enclose a CV and a CD or demo of their work from Monday, February 8 to Wednesday, March 31, 2010 to: City of Athens "Technopolis", 100 Pireos St, Post Code 118 54, Athens, marked "To participate in the 10th European Jazz Festival.

The most colorful exhibition of illustrations in children's books titled "A fairytale life" with work by Nikos Vasiliades.

Nikos Vasiliades, is a graduate of the School of Fine Arts, and for the first time presents an exhibition that is entirely his own with fairytale heroes, and chooses an unconventional approach, completely different than the one we are used to by storytellers. Through colors and the art of illustration they become true works of art.

The City of Athens Cultural Organization and the Organization for the Intellectual Property of Photographers "Foivos" present the photography group exhibition "I feel...".

The exhibition aims in promoting the creative work by the members of the Organization "Foivos". The photographs presented were taken either in the framework of their professional activities such as reports, the depiction of landscapes and fashion or from the creative part of their profession.

A special exhibition with paintings by Othonas Tetenes, titled "The Analogy of Origins", is organized by the City of Athens Cultural Organization.

Othon Tetenes (an individual from the Neuropsychiatry Clinic "Panagia e Gregorousa") has been painting for the past 15 years and is self taught. He expresses his artistic pursuits through writing and painting. When he paints he does so in an intellectual manner, creating an environment on paper influenced by psychologic references and quests.

"Surprise 2!" is the title of the art exhibition organised for the second consecutive year by Greek artists' database on-line portal artAZ with the support of the City of Athens "Technopolis" and to aid the work of the City of Athens Homeless Shelter (KYADA).

After the success of last year's exhibition, the event will take up again with even more artists and works of art, and with even greater supply availability. Three-hundred contemporary artists each created one artwork with the same dimensions (18x24cm) especially for the exhibition, to be offered for sale at a symbolic price (€50).

"Mayday" is a novel written in 1959 by Samarakis which contains in concentration his world view. It deals with the issue of suicide and whether it is a solution for the person that has lost all hope.

The lively dialogues, the human approach on the subject and the cinematic images, are the main characteristics in the writing of Samarakis, and a source of inspiration for Aggelos Antonopoulos, who is responsible for the adaptation and the direction of the play.
