Greenery Works
Between 1-1-2007 and 30-9-2009 a total of 11,042 trees and 94,859 bushes were planted.
More specifically:
Of the 94,859 bushes, 57,000 (approximately 60%) are flower-bearing.

Creation of the 1st "roof garden"
Fourteen new green spaces, encompassing a total area of 3.33 hectares, have been created. Specifically:
- KAPAPS (site of the former Psychiko Disability Rehabilitation Centre)
The site of the former Psychiko Disability Rehabilitation Centre (KAPAPS) is located in the 7th City District, between Trifyllias, Lampsa, Hatzikonstandi and Lakonos streets, and measures 10,500 sq m in size. The development of the site into a recreational park involved the planting of 244 trees and 1,991 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 6,000 sq m. Structural and lighting works were also carried out at the park.
- Voustasio-Hatziapostolou flower-beds
The Voustasio space is located in the 4th City District, between Triandafyllopoulou, Leandrou and Idipodos streets. Its greenery was enhanced by the planting of a total of 242 trees and 2,704 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 2,100 sq m.
- Thermidos Factory site (Lambrini)
The former Thermidos Factory site is situated in the Lambrini area in the 5th City District, between Pitoundos, Ermonasis and Ofioundos streets and its green space measures 4,300 square metres in size. The development of the site into a recreational park involved the planting of 134 trees and 1,232 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 4,000 sq m.
- Fix Woods
The Sygrou Metro - Fix Square, situated in the 2nd City District, between Sygrou Avenue and Kallirois St, incorporates a green space measuring 2,000 sq m in size. The Square's conversion into a recreational area involved the planting of 63 trees and 955 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 1,200 sq m. Structural and lighting works were also carried out in the Square.
- Serafio Swimming Complex
The Serafio Swimming Complex is situated in the Rouf area, in the 3rd City District, between Pireos and Petrou Rallou streets, and incorporates a green space spanning 3,550 sq m. The project was carried out in cooperation with the City of Athens Youth & Sport Organisation. The development of the site into a recreational park involved the planting of 63 trees and 218 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 3,200 sq m.
- Petrino (Votanikos)
Petrino is situated in the Votanikos locality, in the 3rd City District, between Spyrou Patsou and Sidirokastrou streets. The Square was expanded and regenerated, while the new green space measures 1,000 sq m in size. The development of the space into a recreational park involved the planting of 53 trees and 165 bushes.
- Paloubioti Square (E. Venizelou)
Paloubioti Square is situated in the 7th City District, between Paloubioti, Gobineau, Paparseni and Souka streets. The development of this site into a recreational park involved the planting of 64 trees and 1,354 bushes and the laying of turf covering an area of 500 sq m, while new greenery covers a total of 600 sq m.
- Samis and Ialemou
The Samis and Ialemou green space is locaed in the 5th City District and its greenery covers 880 sq m. The development of the space into a recreational park involved the planting of 34 trees and 146 bushes and the laying of 800 sq m of lawn.
- New Kerameikos Space
The New Kerameikos space is situated in the 3rd City District, between the Kerameikos railway station and Technopolis, and its greenery covers 3,000 sq m. The development of the site into a recreational park has involved the planting of 78 trees and 370 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 3,000 sq m, up until now.
- Foka - Siganeou - Sitaki
The Foka - Siganeou - Sitaki green space is situated in the 5th City District, between the streets from which it takes its name and covers a total area of 450 sq m. The development of the site into a recreational area involved the planting of 23 trees and the laying of turf measuring 400 sq m.
- Kerameikos Square
Kerameikos Square is situated in the 3rd City District between Voutadon, Persefonis and Konstandinoupoleos streets, and incorporates a green space measuring 2,400 sq m in size. The creation of a recreational park at the site involved the planting of 20 trees and 653 bushes and the laying of turf covering 2,100 sq m.
- Adrianou Park
Adrianou Park is situated in the 3rd City District between Adrianou and Thissiou streets and covers a total area of 750 sq m. The park's development involved the planting of 12 trees and 195 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 700 sq m.
- Aglaonikis - Lefkas Square Extension
This new green space on Aglaonikis Street, covering a total area of 280 sq m, is situated in the 2nd City District and serves as an extension of Lefkas Square. The site's development into a recreational park involved the planting of 15 trees and 6 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 250 sq m.
- Krinagorou and Stewart Playground
The new green space at the Krinagorou and Stewart Playground is situated in the 2nd City District between the streets from which it takes its name and covers 130 square metres in total. The development of the site into a recreational park involved the planting of 14 trees and 86 bushes.
Regenerated / Remodelled green spaces
22 green spaces, covering a total area of 7.8 hectares, have been regenerated or remodelled. Specifically:
- Larissis Railway Station Square
The square opposite Larissis Railway Station, situated in the 1st City District between Deliyianni, Philadelphias, Samou and Metaxa streets, underwent complete regeneration. Greenery in the Square was enhanced by the planting of 63 trees and 604 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 1,500 sq m.
- Kanari Street
Kanari Street is situated in the 1st City District and its regeneration involved the planting of 57 trees and 117 bushes.
- Treiber Square
Treiber Square is located in the 1st City District, between Akominatou, Paleologou and Sonierou streets, in Petralona. The Square's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 30 trees and 925 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 700 sq m.
- Rizari Park
Rizari Park is located in the 1st City District, between Rizari St and Vas. Sophias and Vas. Konstantinou Avenues. The park's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 71 trees and 120 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 7,000 sq m.
- Meidani Koukaki Gardens
The Meidani Koukaki Gardens are located in the 1st City District between Falirou, Olympiou, Meidani, Sikelias and Kallirois streets and Syngrou Avenue. Greenery in the park was enhanced by the planting of 16 trees and 258 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 550 sq m.
- Agios Sostis
The Agios Sostis area is situated in the 2nd City District. Greenery in the area's square and parks (Timokreondos traffic island, Agora Square, Obrenovic Grove) was enhanced by the planting of 98 trees.
- Mitropoulos Odeon Area
The Mitropoulos Odeon area is located in the 2nd City District, between Vas. Georgiou and Vas. Konstantinou Avenues and Rigillis St. The site's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 41 trees and 204 bushes.
- Voltaire and Kasomouli Square
Voltaire and Kasomouli Square is located in the 2nd City District and the site's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 6 trees and the laying of turf measuring 200 sq m.
- Protomagia Square
Protomagia Square is situated in the 3rd City District between Pireos, Echelidon and Alkminis streets, in Petralona. Greenery in the Square was enhanced by the planting of 21 trees and 273 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 1,500 sq m. Electrical works were also undertaken at the site.
- Avdi Square
Avdi Square is situated in the 3rd City District between Leonidou, Yiatrakou, Myllerou and Keramikou streets. The Square's greenery was enhanced by the planting of a total of 39 trees and 112 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 1,100 sq m.
- Iera Odos Flower-beds
Iera Odos is located in the 3rd City District and a section of its flower beds, from Spyrou Patsi St to the Elaionas railway station, was enhanced by the planting of 25 trees and 1,079 bushes.
- Voutsara Square
Voutsara Square is located in the 3rd City District, between Voutsara, Edessis and Kozanis streets. The Square's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 12 trees and 104 bushes.
- Potli and Rikaki Park
Potli and Rikaki Park is located in the 4th City District, between Potli and Rikaki streets. The Park's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 7 trees and 297 bushes and turf measuring 380 sq m.
- Podonyfti Park
Podonyfti Park is located in the 5th City District, between Perissou, Destouni and Kourtidou streets. The park's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 20 trees and 117 bushes.
- Kafkaso traffic island
The Kafkaso traffic island is located in the 5th City District. The traffic island's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 34 trees and 111 bushes.
- Agorakritos Square
Agorakritos Square is situated in the 6th City District between Agorakritou and Admitou streets. The Square's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 16 trees and 92 bushes and turf measuring 400 sq m.
- Captain Lachanas Park
Captain Lachanas Park is situated in the 6th City District between Lachana and Chrysiidos streets. The Park's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 20 trees and 125 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 1,000 sq m.
- Site behind United States Embassy
The site behind the US Embassy is located in the 7th City District, on Gelonos St. The site's greenery was enhanced with the planting of 59 trees.
- Astrapoyiannos Square
Astrapoyiannos Square is situated in the 7th City District between Mylopotamou, Nikita, Astrapoyiannou and Davaki streets. The Square's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 27 trees and 1,467 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 130 sq m.
- Irini Square - Favis Pedestrian Walkway
Irini Square and the Favis Pedestrian Walkway are situated in the 7th City District between Favi, Ourani, Charitonidou and Hébrard streets. The site's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 24 trees and 568 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 2,500 sq m. Structural work was also undertaken on the site.
- Rome Square
Rome Square is situated in the 7th City District between Kifissias Avenue and P. Stavrou St. The square's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 44 trees and 447 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 1,500 sq m.
- Elena Square
Elena Square is located in the 7th City District, between E. Venizelou, Bournazou and P. Kyriakou streets. The Square's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 17 trees and 322 bushes and turf measuring 350 sq m.
Enhancement of greenery in hills and woods
Greenery was enhanced in 10 hills and woods with the planting of trees, bushes and saplings for future tree replacement. Specifically:
- Lycabettus Hill
Lycabettus Hill is situated in the 1st City District. Its greenery has been enhanced by the planting of 506 trees and 34,425 bushes.
- Ilissia Woods
The Ilissia Woods are located in the 1st City District. The greenery at the site was enhanced by the planting of 175 trees, 257 saplings and 1,460 bushes.
- Evangelismos Park
Evangelismos Park is located in the 1st City District and its greenery was enhanced by the planting of 262 bushes and the laying of turf measuring 2,000 sq m.
- Akadimia Platonos Park-Drakondos-Archaeological Site-Skouze Hill
The Akadimia Platonos Park-Drakondos-Archaeological Site-Skouze Hill is located in the 4th City District and the park's greenery was enhanced by the planting of 54 trees, 52 saplins and 367 bushes.
- Kolonos Hill
Kolonos Hill is located in the 4th City District and the greenery at the site has been enhanced with the planting of 180 saplings thus far.
- Evelpidon Woods
The Evelpidon Woods are located in the 6th City District between Mavromateon, Evelpidon, Pringiponisson and Valtinon streets. The greenery in the Woods has been enhanced by the planting of 125 trees, 45 saplings and 1,220 bushes thus far.
- Horofylakis Woods
The Horofylakis Woods are located in the 7th City District and greenery at the site has been enhanced by the planting of 15 trees, 215 saplings and 430 bushes thus far.
- Goudi Woods
The Goudi Woods are located in the 7th City District and the site's greenery (Swimming pool, gully) has been enhanced by the planting of 61 trees, 232 saplings and 1,028 bushes thus far.
- Agios Andreas Children's Campsite
The City of Athens Children's Campsite is situated in Agios Andreas. Greenery at the site was enhanced by the planting of 145 trees, 100 saplings and 260 bushes.
- City of Athens facilities in Zofria
Greenery at City of Athens facilities in Zofria has been enhanced by the planting of 28 trees, 180 saplings and 30 bushes.

- Elaionas
Elaionas is situated in the 3rd City District. The development of the site into a recreational park has begun with the planting of 300 trees thus far. A total of 550 trees will be planted in the new green space which encompasses 11,000 sq m.
