A total of ninety-nine (99) childcare centres operate within City of Athens boundaries. These include childcare centres established by the City of Athens as well as state childcare centres formerly administered by the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity.

 

City of Athens childcare centres offer a high standard of service at reasonable cost, while many families are entitled to a fee exemption.

 

The City of Athens currently operates the largest childcare centre network in Greece and the Balkans generally, whereas it counts among Europe's biggest. Some 5,600 children attend municipal childcare centres on a daily basis.

 

Registration begins May 15 and ends June 15. As vacancies may arise throughout the school year, applications are accepted year-round.
